The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs & Reconciliation registers international and local non-governmental organisations. International requirements are listed below. Local NGO registration is coming soon.

International

Requirements for a new international organization

  1. Stamped request letter.

  2. Organizational last updated profile.

  3. Proof of funds secured from a donor not resident in Somalia.

  4. The CVs and passports of international staff, and a certificate of no criminal conviction from their respective countries.

  5. Passport copies of the three top officials.

  6. Bank account number of the organization.

  7. NGO constitution signed by the proposed three top officials.

  8. A written justification of why international staff are needed.

  9. Brief concept note of the agency's coming year activities with a proposed budget.

  10. Registration fee: USD 1,000.

  11. Printing and maintenance: USD 100.

Official document verification takes five days. If any requirement is missing, the application will be rejected.

Renewal requirements for an international organization

  1. Stamped renewal request letter.

  2. Organizational last updated profile.

  3. Details of the 3 top officials (passport) and criminal record.

  4. Proof of funds secured from a donor (offer letter, contract, or similar).

  5. Information stating the organization's contact persons (names, title, telephones, emails).

  6. All staff information, their contract agreements, and salary.

  7. Bank account number of the organization.

  8. The CVs and passports of international staff, and a certificate of no criminal conviction from their respective countries.

  9. A written justification of why international staff are needed.

  10. A report on results achieved during the past year.

  11. Last audit report (financial statement of last year).

  12. NGO constitution signed by the proposed three top officials.

  13. Brief concept note of the agency's coming year activities with a proposed budget.

  14. Recommendation letter from the line ministries.

  15. Tax identification number.

  16. Renewal fee: USD 1,100.

Official document verification for renewal takes five days. If any requirement is missing, the application will be rejected.
